Thank you Jo! I almost didn’t post it because I worried it was a bit moany or negative, when I know Im very lucky to have somewhere to stay, view or not!
Thanks for articulating this so beautifully, Bonnie. I live on top of a little mountain with a stunning, wild view. A lot of the time I'd rather be outside in that view than doing anything else. When I travel for work, I often write more and have more ideas. You're right, we need people, people are both stories and the alchemical ingredient to stories. I'm about to leave this wild place for a few months, so this reflection was really helpful 😊
Yes, it’s an interesting conundrum! I still think living somewhere with a view gives me a peace I don’t find elsewhere - your mountain top home sounds incredible! But perhaps it is all about balance? About a mixture of the two? I went to the Kelvingrove art gallery yesterday and found myself standing in front of a painting by LS Lowry. It was around the corner from one of his well known crowded street scenes, but this was just of the sea. No land, no people, just waves washing away to the horizon and I felt the loosening in my chest that I get at the beach. It seemed unthinkable that it was a Lowry - but perhaps it is proof that we are none of us one thing, that we are all complex and we all need variety to thrive!
Lovely perspective, Bonnie 🩶

No better view than one with a CalMac ferry in it!
Especially when you’ve been on that ferry journey! When we went across to Islay we could see the house (and wave at it!)

We are/contain multitudes! I definitely need both, and it's human nature to yearn for what is not in front of you too 😊
